NUIT BLANCHE 2009: KATHERINE BISCHOPING INTERVIEW

I had the chance to speak with Katherine Bischoping, curator for Nuit Blanche exhibit Things Fall Apart before the show. Professor of Sociology at York University, Katherine was nothing like the stereotypical intellectual, rather, she spoke in a friendly tone, and seemed extremely excited and passionate about the art projects.

NUIT BLANCHE 2009: NADINE BARITEAU INTERVIEW

Artist Nadine Bariteau’s installation project, Every Move You Make, was presented at this year’s Nuit Blanche. Nadine began her artistic career studying graphic design; only two years later, she realized the audience dictated boundaries on creativity did not suit her needs. She now holds a Masters degree in Fine Arts from York University, and pursues her art unbound by consumers’ opinions. The Montreal native moved to Toronto four years ago.

NUIT BLANCHE 2009: CARLY BENKENDORF INTERVIEW

InCENTive, Benkendorf’s 16.5-foot-long installation, is made of 10,000 authentic wishes printed on pennies. And that is only the surface of this interactive feat. www.i-wish.ca, InCENTive’s website, continues to collect wishes entered from around the world. The best part is you can read them all; you can even take some as souvenirs if you’re lucky enough to attend the exhibit.
