FILM REVIEW: THE SEAMSTRESS

Somewhere within the celluloid biology of The Seamstress there lies a kernel of a decent idea for a movie. However, seeing as how said kernel is surrounded by an overwhelming amount of stupidity and trite storytelling, I’m not even going to bother looking for it. You’re welcome to it, but I say forget it, you probably have better things to do.

FILM REVIEW: FRONTIER(S)

Frontier(s) is Xavier Gens' first attempt at a feature length film and is done in the same vein as other French cult horror films like High Tension (2003), Martyrs (2008) and Inside (2007). The film takes place in a not so distant future where France has just elected a fascist government into power, and as a result several riots break out both protesting and celebrating the victory. Several criminals use these riots as cover for robbing and looting the city.

FILM REVIEW: GHOST STORY

In a place where dolls lurk demonically, and doctors loom menacingly, you will find the unusual and well crafted film Ghost Story. A feature by the creator of much loved Christopher Lee classic I, Monster, Stephen Weeks brings us a delight in the old school style chiller category. A massive fan of independent British horror, I found that this relatively low budget production, with its rather epic cast, was indeed rather spiffing.

British director, Jake West, saw his fourth feature Doghouse released in cinemas everywhere earlier this year. A veritable horror film buff in his own right, Jake is known for his great visual style and incorporation of sharp, funny dialogue.
