FILM REVIEW: THE SEAMSTRESS

Somewhere within the celluloid biology of The Seamstress there lies a kernel of a decent idea for a movie. However, seeing as how said kernel is surrounded by an overwhelming amount of stupidity and trite storytelling, I’m not even going to bother looking for it. You’re welcome to it, but I say forget it, you probably have better things to do.

FILM REVIEW: FRONTIER(S)

Frontier(s) is Xavier Gens' first attempt at a feature length film and is done in the same vein as other French cult horror films like High Tension (2003), Martyrs (2008) and Inside (2007). PORTSMOUTH FILM FESTIVAL: SEAVIEW

A man stares past the camera. His eyes light up in such a way that you know he's seeing the buildings surrounding him for what they once were. TIFF 2009: BUNNY AND THE BULL

Bunny and the Bull is a quirky comedy about Stephen Turnbull (Edward Hogg), a man who hasn’t left his house in almost a year and has organized his life to an extremely precise schedule. But because of a mice infestation that destroys his routine, he is forced to revisit the last time he really ventured out of the house with his best friend Bunny, on a cross continent adventure. The film is ridiculously hilarious, with an imaginative art style that should not be missed by fans of unusual British comedies.

FILM REVIEW: GHOST STORY

In a place where dolls lurk demonically, and doctors loom menacingly, you will find the unusual and well crafted film Ghost Story. A feature by the creator of much loved Christopher Lee classic I, Monster, Stephen Weeks brings us a delight in the old school style chiller category. A massive fan of independent British horror, I found that this relatively low budget production, with its rather epic cast, was indeed rather spiffing.
